One Word: Preparation

We are preparing our hearts and our minds for a trip out of our comfort zone. There are a lot of details to take care of in this preparation – we want to be prepared for anything! But we starting to feel like it is impossible to be prepared for anything.

The Bible tells us to be prepared, and it tells us how to prepare ourselves. I like the Message version, which puts it in terms that I can easily understand:

Ephesians 6:13-18
The Message (MSG)

Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You'll need them throughout your life. God's Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.

So as we prepare ourselves, let’s take all the help we can get. Let’s use our weapons. Let’s find the truth and guidance in The Bible. Let’s pray. Let’s ask others to pray for us and with us. With God’s help, we can be prepared for anything!
